i am so addicted to starbucks, my husband is annoyed by it. maybe i should just buy the jura coffee machine, maybe that will be cheaper in the long run? but i got to have the 2010 planner! then my sister wants her own planner. my wallet needs a break from unnecessary things (as my hubby calls them =D) because i still have to finish my christmas shopping. ok, i will compromise. after i get my plannerS (plural!), i will keep my starbucks intake to a minimum. say, 2 per day? =D Labels: money money money

chatted with my sister and saw cayden, my nephew via webcam. oh my, he's grown so quickly! he can now crawl - fast!, roll over - fast! and pull himself up - fast! from a tiny teeny baby, he looks more like a toddler alredy! i hope the Clarks shoes i bought will fit him when i get to give them to him. it's for a one year old but you know how they grow up fast! i should have bought the one for 18 months! tsk tsk...here he is! isnt he the cutest? our family is hosting this year's christmas dinner. actually, one of the christmas dinners. december is also my hubby and his uncle's bdays so there'll be a party as well. im not domesticated. i cant cook! if my mom's only here, she'll be able to help me. kaso she's not kya we might resort to booking a caterer for both events. *shivers sa gastos*.that aside, it's "eating season" again and i will def not hold back! no need for appetite suppressants. xmas food is the best! i dont know, it's the most jolly time of the year, bkt magpapaka kj? i thought that having car insurance will make our lives easier. when we had an accident (a truck rolled back on our car at slex during a traffic) last year, i thought claiming for damages will be easy. i was wrong! until now, we havent received a single penny!! our car insurance is expiring and i am bent on not renewing with that company. now i have to get an auto insurance quote but make sure that the company is reiable. it's one thing being bumped by someone not insured but it's another story having difficulty claiming fr your own insurance policy!! my mom is on a roll. she's now in new jersey staying with her sister. that is after being in the uk for 6 months. now she's telling me they're going to las vegas at the end of the month. now im thinking, what can she buy for me? my most embarrasing experience? when i fell down the main stairs at the main building of UST. if you study/-ied there you would know that it's like a grand staircase in the middle of the building facing the main doors! if you slip or fall, you wont surely be missed *lol*. boy oh boy, to think me and my friends were trying to make pa-cute to this science guy. if only i have a fall protection to save my face! what about you? care to share yours?

After I helped Adam put on his uniform, I've decided to take pictures of him, since I haven't had the chance to get one coz I am always in a hurry to go to work. Anyways, I was surprised that when I showed him the cam, he immediately posed and to top it all, I never told him to do that. And look at his hair, he did that by himself. the philippines, particularly the metropolis, recently faced a natural disaster. a very strong typhoon destroyed lots of properties, took a lot of lives and left a lot homeless. keep your donations coming, to help our fellow filipinos get over this tragedy and reclaim their lives again.fortunately, nothing serious happened to our families. we're all safe and warm in alabang while my parent's house only got a foot high water in the house. nothing that a good clean can't fix.our youngest brother was wise enough to leave his car in mapua where it's higher. otherwise, it would have been soaked like our other brother's. water leaked in his car but nothing as serious as those cars in uerm. he had it washed already and has been replacing auto accessories ever since. taking the opportunity i guess.fortunately, the other typhoon, parma, didnt cause much damage as ketsana. i just hope nothing like this happens again. not until those badly affected get their lives back. it's hard to be slapped one after the other. while our little family is on our way to makati earlier today, we witnessed a motorcycle accident. OMG! it's bloody! the bike driver was sideswiped by a huge truck coming from south expressway. poor bike driver! i hope his family will be able to afford a lawyer (like the Oakland motorcycle accident lawyer) to at least be able to prosecute the truck driver and make him pay for his carelessness. traffic is bad here in the philippines. most drivers dont have discipline. there's no order and you can pay off the traffic enforcer. geesh!anyways, may the motorcycle driver rest in peace.Labels: money money money
Before i look for an equestrian apparel for our neighbor (who thought i know where to find the cheapest just because i work for a fashion store), here is my collection of nail colors. I especially like nail colors from Elianto. The colors are very long lasting, doesn't chip off. I also love the ones from skin food, because it has very vibrant colors, just one coat and you're off to go. As you can see, I'm into shades of red, for me I just feel like red is the color of sexiness. Anyways, not that I'm planning on opening a manicure/pedicure spa, it just so happens that I loooooove putting on nail colors. I just feel like I have sexy feet whenever I have one on, especially the dark ones. But I only wear one on my feet, never on my hand, except when there's an occasion.
Anyways, I change my nail color EVERY WEEK, no misses. And did I mention that I'm the one doing my nails. Not to brag about it, but I'm quite good in applying one. Just to clear things out, and I'm not selling my service. hehehe!      Labels: beauty, money money money
i was annoyed. still am actually.i attended a cousin's bday party and one of her guests brought her son with her. unfortunately, her son didnt behave. my cousin told me that her son has adhd (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder). that figures. but i hated what the other guests were saying. OUT LOUD! they were damning the boy's parents for not raising him well. of course the mom doesnt go around telling everybody about his son's condition, so probably other people had an excuse. but ignorance is not an excuse. they dont have any reason to gossip right in front of the mom. kainis talaga!but i absolutely commend the mom. she's not ashamed of her little boy. no parents should be. it's not their child's fault. he was born with probably a defective gene or something (sorry, im not a psychologist!). he's into adhd treatment and his mom said that he's making good progress.i hope people will understand this condition more. or probably, being sensitive and tactful is enough. im thinking of having our bathroom renovated. remember what happened to my dear son a few months ago (the bathroom door slammed on his thumb making it bleed non stop, thus needing emergency surgery)? still gives me the creeps everytime i remember. plus the fact that the flush of our toilet bowl is touch and go. and while we're at it, probably change the tiles as well? *lol*i hope dear husband will approve. my dad's people will do it for us, that will make it cheaper. we only have to pay for the materials. labor will be free. will tell him tomorrow. hope he's in a good mood. my sister is asking me to canvass for various baby items. i think they'll be starting a business in the uk selling baby stuff not readily available there. my sister is being OC about having everything that will make taking care of a baby easy and just imagine her frustration when she couldnt find most of them in the UK market. either she has to order from the philippines or from the states, both having ridiculous shipping costs.anyways, i am looking forward to this as well. i design baby clothes in my spare time so my sister said they can sell my line as well. yippee!!cant wait for them to finish building their website and populating their online shop. maybe they should have a look at POS systems already. excited! my brother, who is based in dubai, collects model cars. he shares the same passion with my uncle. i dont get it. you buy them yet you just put them on display. he doesnt even let his son play with it. ok, his son is just over a year old but hello! it's still a toy for me =D. he calls his collection his toys!when he reads this, he'll taunt back - why am i into cosmetics, bags, etc. fine. we all have our own "passion".im sure if i tell him i know where to get cheap Ferrari parts, he'll spend the rest of the night deciding what to buy. i hate it when the phone rings and it's just someone selling stuff. where do they get our number anyway?! well, there's the white pages but then, phoning in the middle of the night?! no wonder my parents opted not to have their number listed in the directories list.last night, i came home from work really flat out tired. went to bed early. then at around 2:30AM, the phone rang. since my family in the uk sometimes call around that time, i didnt have a choice but to answer. guess what? it's from an indian call center selling me insurance! has this happened to anybody? it could have been a wrong number but it happened twice already. so so annoying!!!! grrr! last sunday, we went to my parent's house to visit my dad and my brothers. our youngest was watching this program. i forgot the title but it's about houses, barns being moved from one location to another. they redefined the term moving houses! it's really amazing to watch. of course, it takes them weeks transporting one house from origin to destination. but just imagine the equipment you'll need in motorhome towing. i wonder how much it costs...if you're really in love with your house but not the location, this is a good option. but i doubt it'll ever happen here in the philippines. well, not in the near future anyway. we fondly call our new nephew kiko (real name is cayden gabriel) because we already have another nephew called pong (pong pagong ang kiko matching of the batibot fame). recently, the philippines was battered by a typhoon named kiko. we couldnt help but laugh (of course, what happened to some of our fellow filipinos is no laughing matter) because we're trying to compare our baby's temperament with the typhoon. fortunately, ours is a happy baby and in no way similar with the storm. at 3 months, he can already laugh. even if you're stressed (like me... i need the best acne treatment right now!!!) or annoyed, once you see him smile, your heart will melt. he's got the sweetest smile ever! i remember watching in the news, before the school year started (nope, not the swine flu), about how most public schools are in need of space. the government needs more money to provide for the large number of pupils enrolling at public schools. sad to say, some of them even came from private schools. but because of the recession, they couldnt afford private schools anymore and had to transfer to public school. what a shock it must have been. aside from the small classrooms (some of them, shared by 2 classes!) they need new classroom desks, cleaner toilets and the teachers need more compensation. imagine teaching 50+ pupils at a time. dear o dear.i hope the government officials stop being selfish. give their people what is due! my nephew is already 3 months old. but he's not treated like a baby anymore. he's a little advance for his age, that's why! he carries his head well already, without support. he babbles a lot and he's a little screamer! he shrieks a lot when he's enjoying what he's doing. and when i saw his pram, which is like the Bob stroller, i was surprised because it's already for a bigger baby! no wonder when he was baptised, the priest thought he's already 1 year old!

i accompanied my husband's niece to a pet store to get dog supplies. she was recently given a puppy and would like to dress her up "like that of paris hilton's..". and she's just 6 years old! *lol*when we were in the store, i realized, having a pet is like having another child. so so expensive! and we had to get the dog a pet insurance. i told my son to just stick to a fish tank. cleaning is easier and it's a lot cheaper! my friend has finally received his compensation (after a million years, it seemed!)from the car accident that happened in 2007. unfortunately, because the other driver, who was at fault, resides in another country (my friend is based in england and the other driver, in poland), the case dragged on. or was it a case of having a worthless lawyer? (hopefully, Mesothelioma lawyers are good as they victims deserve the compensation). sorry i digress.he was paid for the damages to his car right away. but the injuries he suffered, whiplash, loss of earnings... it took 3 years to be compensated. he finds it ridiculous. lucky him, the accident happened there. if it happened here, he wouldnt be compensated at all! as we all know, former president cory aquino has died. i cant relate much as i was only i think about 2 years old during the first edsa revolution which started cory's reign as the philippines' first female president. she's being hailed by most as the mother of democracy. im not into politics. and i cant even be bothered. but seeing people crying, her children crying... friends and family reminscing about their experiences with cory.. i swell up. i am moved.i guess it's much better this way. she was in pain. now, she's in heaven with her long-lost husband. they're finally together...*sigh*ok.. time to find some Solo Slim (read: wipe away the tears *lol*) Labels: money money money, mother, politics
 I've been a super major addict of Starbucks' Dark Berry Mocha Frap. It's a fine ice blended coffee with chocolate chips, topped with creamy whipped cream and fruity black berry syrup. I hardly missed a cup of this energy boosting drink. It tastes so good and gives me just enough adrenaline rush I needed for the day. A perfect drink to go with my all time favorite chocolate glazed doughnut of Krispy Kreme. But im a bit sad since i think that my favorite frap ihas been phased out since Starbucks' hardly makes the berry syrup..huhuhu.. On the bright side, i wont need a ephedrine. i personally teach my son each night with his lessons. i help him with his assignments. fortunately for me, he loves going through his textbooks each time. he's just in prep in elizabeth seton. he goes to school from 11-2pm. my sister marvels at how much pupils are taught these days, especially when they're just in school for 3 hours.when i told my sister adam's curriculum, she gasped in shock. she said the things adam are taught were taught when she was already in gradeschool. im in shock as well. i hope i could keep up. cayden is my new nephew. he's almost 3 months old and he'll be celebrating his first bday here in the philippines. being the stage tita that i am, i happily volunteered to organise his bday party. afterall, they live thousand of miles away (they live in england).my colleague was organising her son's bday so i asked for recommendations. she said the la mesa ecopark is a nice venue. they are offering any of the 3 pavillions they have for 5k, with the entrance fee of the 1st 80people free. i talked to my sister about it and she likes the idea. will do the occular and if everything passes my tastes, ecopark it is.but before that, i need to find some acne treatment for our youngest brother who's breaking out right now. he said he's been stressing out with their exams. me thinks it's because of girls =) Labels: money money money

fortunately, my son hasnt insisted on visiting disney despite the fact that some of his classmates are bragging about being there. he's more excited to go to madame tussauds in london after seeing my mom's and sibling's photos with spiderman and the hulk. hopefully, by 2011, adam will have request granted.anyways, i think im the one who's more excited to go to disney. i have been surfing Orlando vacations sites to give me an idea. im crossing my fingers that i will be able to convince my sister to go there (again, in her case) as a side trip for when we visit her in england.Labels: money money money
i remember a story my sister told me years ago. the first time cell phones (n5110) came out, there were people selling smuggled phones by the bulk. since those phones were expensive at that time, the offer was too good to resist *lol*. they were 10 in their group and if they buy the bulk, it will save them loads! fortunately, even if they were willing to part with their cash, no purchase was made. there were no phones available to start with!my cousin is now enticing me to form a group of 10 as he knows someone selling wholesale laptops. regular retail price is 60k but it will only cost us 35k.too good to be true? i heard our kasambahay saying i must i must lose some fats. hehe. i tease her that instead of just uttering it, maybe she should get a fat burner. but seriously, i told her that her body is just right. she's just slim like me and if anything, needs to fatten up a little bit. i guess, she's reading a lot of local magazines and comparing herself to those very thin artistas like kim chiu.anyways, i feel we should be happy with what has been given us. this is coming from someone who's fortunate to have a slim body no matter what she eats. if it has been otherwise, im sure i will resort to all sorts of dieting as well. i guess, whatever makes us happy should be the thing. i have been asking my sister when we can go and visit her in london. she said they're going home next year so 2010 is a no-no. she's suggesting we come in 2012 as the olympics will be held in uk. thing is, im sure airfare will be a lot more expensive then. just like our experience when we went to china. with 3 of us in the family planning to go there, we will need probably at least 200k for airfare. 2011 is an option but my hubby plans to go to canada. his high school friend has been inviting us for ages and he's running out of excuses. im also excited with this trip, i hope nothing comes up.speaking of which, is rochester near toronto? my friend asked me if i can help her find a Rochester personal injury lawyer. she had an accident at work and would like to claim for compensation. i hope she can. she has lost earnings and not to mention, the physical and mental pain she went through. we've been planning to go to la mesa ecopark for weeks. adam had his filed trip there last year and he wanted to go back. bitin daw last year. we havent been able to go bec of the recent typhoon and mostly because it's a long way from our house. it's somewhere in fairview (i think) and we live in alabang. dulo sa dulo! *lol*i asked my aunt, who lives in lagro, for directions and that made adam happy. malapit na daw kami pumunta =). i promised him if it's sunny next week, we'll definitely go. good thing the driver (the daddy) did not object. it's a long drive and he doesnt have the patience for traffic and undisciplined drivers. but since it's a weekend, hopefully, traffic wont be as bad (dreaming we're driving to the Outer Banks instead. hehe) Labels: money money money
i met up with my cousin yesterday. she'll be leaving for singapore in a few day's time as she's starting a new job. however, she's feeling really annoyed at her husband because she has been nagging him to get himself a car insurance. what do you know? he bumped someone else's bumper the previous day while on his way to meet with friends. since he was lazy getting a car insurance quote, he will have to shoulder all the expenses. it's hard to leave when you're not sure if the people you will leave behind will act responsibly. long time no post. regarding my previous post, no i didnt have a haircut. i kept my hair long. i dont know but i dont think i'll manage with short hair (weird, no?).anyways, my son had an accident on independence day. i asked him to close the door of our bathroom, when the wind blew hard and slammed the door on his left thumb. it bled a lot and the tip almost got cut off. it was scary!we brought him to asian hospital where he underwent a reconstructive surgery to reattach the tip back. fortunately, there wasnt much damage. we were discharged the next day. he even went back to school that monday. my son was really brave! but taking off the stitches was another story. hahaha.anyways, we were showing his injury to my sister and mom through web cam. i cant help but notice how much they have gained weight! i think they need the best diet pill to help them slim down. hehe. my sister's excuse? she's breastfeeding and needs to eat so her baby can get all the nutrition he needs. she said, she'll lose weight through that anyway. whatever! i have rashes all over my face, nothing a mineral concealer cant cover but the itchiness is driving me crazy. i have been to my dermatologist already. was given antihistamine but i dont think it's working. it's either i go back to my derma and ask for a diff meds or i find a different derma. im leaning towards changing my doctor. for one, i dont feel like she cares at all that im itching all over. she keeps on saying (through text) that it will go away soon. duh! besides, her clinic is far from where i live. she was recommended by a friend. too bad, we're not compatible! *lol*.my mom is recommending nutritional health supplements. not just to help with the rashes but for my general well being. i havent really had time for myself lately. will need some me time and some time with my son. fortunately, he still is not complaining of neglect =D Labels: money money money

i asked my sister to buy me a digital camera in UK as it's a lot cheaper there (the brand i like costs around 30k here whereas it only costs less than 20k there including shipping to the philippines).
she sent it through dhl. imagine, for a courier, it took almost 2 weeks to reach me (long story! - another dhl blunder). and when i received it, i got the shock of my life!
   grabe! my sister declared it as a digital cam, it's on the shipping label as well. yet, they didnt handle the parcel well. sobrang hassle!!!! we're even considering buying a tv stand and having it shipped here. hay, dito na lang!Labels: money money money
i met up with my cousin the other day. she came from las vegas and is in town for a short break. she said she was hesitant to fly over because of the swine flu. she doesnt want to be hassled at the airport, knowing how officials could get fussy. but because she has been looking forward to it for over a year already, she said, nothing could stop her from having her big break. she just took out additional Medicare supplement insurance, in case.too bad she's only here for 2 weeks. i'll be gone for most of it. but at least, we've gone out already. that's one thing crossed off her list. it's been raining lately. it's supposed to be summer, yet it's like we're in the middle of june. what's happening to the world?!i'm ranting because we have lots of plans this summer - going to the beach, going to fiestas, reunions. but they may have to be cancelled bec of the bad weather.hay, hope the weather gets better soon.workwise, it's been ok. it hasnt been as toxic as before. i get to go home early unlike before, every night, i got home around 9pm, the earliest. the company has also invested in lots of new equipments and gadgets - computers, barcode scanner, etc.at least, work is ok and not stressful. otherwise, with the weather this way, i might go into depression! we were at the mall earlier. that's me, hubby and adam. adam wanted to eat at mcdonald's so that's where we had meryenda. while hubby was ordering, we heard this mom, who was lecturing her daughter, who's just about 12y/o about her diet. mom was telling her daughter that she looks like a whale already and if she continues with her eating habits, she will end up alone as no guy will ever love her for her weight. she was threatening the poor girl with appetite suppression and feeding her soup all day.to say i was shocked was an understatement! if only i know the number for social services, i would have had that mom locked up for abusing her daughter. besides, she shouldnt have led her family to a fast food, serving junk food! as if she's not whale-looking herself!good thing, they went away before we started our meal. otherwise, i would have offered that poor girl a serving of fries and milk shake and stuffed a whole burger in her mother's mouth! que horror! my sister initially planned to come home for christmas. last time she came home was in 2006, when she and her hubby married. but that changed because of the high cost of airfares during that season (christmas time. with 3 of them coming home, it would really be expensive!). but she doesnt want to spend another "gloomy" christmas in england. she decided the family will go to west coast instead and she was on the lookout for any San Diego California hotel.plan changed again and at the moment, they will be spending it with my aunt in new jersey. there goes their chance for a warmer winter *lol*. she said at least they'll be spending it with family. fair enough.will see them, new baby in tow, in april. or may. depending on when the little boy makes an appearance. adam cant wait to meet his new cousin =) Labels: money money money
my sister is 38 weeks pregnant. and she cant wait any longer to give birth. i think she's having problem breathing and she's feeling heavy already. i've seen her latest photo recently and boy, she really gained weight. i teased her that she may need lipo-6 black to get back to her pre-pregnancy weight. but i doubt she'll do anything except eat some more *lol*. she's enjoying the added weight (well, her new found boobs, really *lol*). but if she's anything like me, she'll be shedding the fats in no time. we're back from our 4day-vacation in pagudpod. we stayed at my hubby's uncle's resort and it was just pure bliss! food was overflowing, there's always a buffet to keep us stuffed. nothing much to do but to swim, eat, sleep. oh, we went to laoag for a day trip and i have tons of pictures im not sure when i can upload *lol*my sister is bugging me to upload the pics of some of the actors of tayong dalawa. i think the house is being used as the "new house" of jake cuenca and family. of course, she's demanding that i get THAT video asap. will see...anyways, i need to find a new wireless alarm system for my brother's office. he asked me 2 weeks ago and i havent done it yet! i'll do it now before he finds out =)ciao! got an email from my sister asking me if i want some sexy lingerie. apparently, there is an ongoing sale for affordable lingerie in the uk. when she mentioned la senza, i emailed her back right away as i love their underwears! i bought some a few months ago and they're very comfy and sexy in deed! but they could be expensive.

i am now back to working. i started last monday and guess what? i went back to my old work. well, they WOOED me back is more like it. i left my job bec i couldnt take the long hours anymore. i had to do lots of mall visits and i get to go home late at night. to think pay wasnt that good.
i went back bec they made my sched more flexible. i control my hours now and to top it all, my salary was increased! about time, i say.
so, going back to work, there are new faces there. there's this new guy who's balding at such a young age. we told him to just sport a "bald" look, like have a very short haircut so his hairline wont be that obvious. but i guess, he's looking at hair loss treatment reviews and weighing his options.

we can now heave a sigh of relief. my son was accepted in elizabeth seton and he'll be in prep come school opening. i'll be enroling him next week and he's quite excited. i told him though to enjoy summer first bec at such a young age, he's been studying for most of it already. and i dont want to rob him of a fun childhood! i dont want him accusing me of not making his childhood memorable, when he's older!
anyways, im letting him watch lots of tv since he's on a break. we'll be going to pagudpod for holy week, where he'll be spending his 5th bday as well. we're pretty excited about that. fortunately, we will be flying there. i detest going by land and spending ages on the road.
off topic, hubby's uncle asked me if we can help him find home theater chairs because he'll be redecorating his entertainment room. hopefully, we can find a good deal before we go on holiday.

my son will be graduating from nursery 2 next week. we're now debating on whether to enrol him in kindergarten or prep. he's just turning 5 in april but he's been studying for 2 years now that we think he'll be a little advance for kinder. but like my sister, you'll be surprised at what they are teaching kids in school now adays. imagine to pass the prep entrance exam, the child should be able to do addition and subtraction! my sister said during her time, it wasnt taught till grade 1! =D
anyways, we're eyeing 2 schools for adam. elizabeth seton and san beda. seton is our first choice bec it's 10k cheaper than san beda and i've been hearing good reviews from other parents who has sent their kids there.
i'll be doing some research later but i have to do what hubby asked me to do first. search for car insurance quotes. just because i dont have work at the moment, he thinks i can be his secretary! *lol* Labels: money money money

i was watching friends re-run earlier and no matter how many times i've watched it, they still make me laugh. i love them! the episode i watched earlier was one of the last season. rachel was offered a job by LV after being fired by RL. she told her friends and ross said, when one door closes another one opens (something to that effect) and it calls for a celebration and that they should open israel's finest (he's probably taking about the wine of the month *lol*).i wonder why they had to end the series. i heard some rumors that they are going to make a movie about it, like what they did with sex and the city. im so there if that happens! my sister sent me a picture of a cute little boy. she asked me to guess his age. i said 8. my sister said he's 13 and he's already a father. say what?!!!! i couldnt belive what she said. this young father is too young to be a dad! he even looks like he is his girlfriend's son (who's just 15 by the way)! my mom said she saw it in the news. but there's some controversy about it. apparently, the baby could have been fathered by a different guy. that's why they all requested for a paternity test. some are saying that they "made" this young boy the father so they can sell their story to the tabloids.still, they are all too young to be parents! i know i married young. but not that young! and i was able to finish my studies (my husband already graduated fr college and has a job then) and we're all doing great. my sister got an electric blanket for christmas. it would have been a nice gift specially for the winter but because their neighbour almost got "burnt" with theirs, she opted to just sell it on ebay.i know that it depends on the manufacturer, how safe the product is. but im sure my sister's just being cautious, being pregnant and all. as they said regret is always in the end. and it's better to be safe than sorry! i used to dread going to malls. i live and breathe malls because i usually go to at least 4 malls a day, doing my rounds of the shops our company owns. my mom would invite me to tag along whenever they go out but i always pass.not anymore. i am now starting to enjoy malls again. specially when there is a sale. and most specially when your dad pays for your purchases.it's nice to be a bum. but i know i cant live as a bum forever. sooner or later my body will crave the excitement a job brings. but im sure it'll be later rather than sooner *lol* Labels: money money money

i accompanied my friend from college house hunting last saturday. she's looking for a condo unit in makati, close to where she works. but she finds that those ready built are too expensive.husband's colleague recommended these blocks of buildings being built near eastwood. she can buy off-plan which will save her a lot. we went to see the site and was toured around by the project manager. we were shocked when one of their laborers collapsed. he was rushed to a nearby hospital. we dont know what caused it. we didnt ask (hopefully it's not Mesothelioma). my friend was put off buying from them. she didnt want her first house to have a negative start like that.well. on to the next.... i went to my parent's house this morning to play with my nephew, pong, who is 15months old. he's super active! my mom had to go to MOA to meet up with her travel agent, who processed her tickets for her flight to UK, so we went with her. my brother was our designated driver. while in MOA, he dragged us to this hardware to look for car lifts, which he says might come handy in the future. we teased him that he doesnt really need it. he's just obsessing about his car. anyways, we've convinced him that it's just a waste of money as there's a vulcanizing shop almost in every corner here in manila.
adam wasnt able to come with us bec he's still in school. being a bum, i didnt want to just stay at home and do nothing. im glad i went to my parent's house. i got to relax a bit. ang got some free shopping too! Labels: money money money

i remember when my brother arrived from UK, he brought home a Linksys router my sister gave him. they have an extra one which they bought in the states. he was boasting that he could now use his laptop even if my mom or other brother is using the desktop downstairs. and he didnt need to buy one!
last time i visited, he was using the desktop downstairs. i asked him what happened to his laptop and started teasing him about it. he said our other borther was so smart that he plugged the 110v router to a 220v socket! now they dont have wifi. and im still teasing him! Labels: money money money
last christmas, my son received lots of cds from his godparents. from music, educational stuff, to his favorite shows (what else, justice league!). he's accumulated so much that we plan to buy him his own audio racks. but i cant find one that suits the room. maybe i should just ask my dad to make him one with his spare construction stuff. yeah, i guess i'll do that instead. i wont have to spend any money! im helping a friend plan her wedding. she's getting married in december this year. still plenty of time to prepare. she has booked all major suppliers already and we're concentrating on the small stuff. we're now busy designing her wedding invitations. i advised her to do this asap because when my sister was preparing for her wedding, she had a hard time choosing templates. in the end, her invites were distributed quite late. some even did not get theirs till the wedding date itself. she relied mostly on texts and calls to inform everyone of their wedding.

im currently jobless. i resigned. im thinking of getting a family health insurance just to make sure we are covered if one of us gets sick. it's easier with a steady income coming but with me, just staying home at the moment, it will be a safer bet if we have this cover. with the climate changing (at one point it was very cold here then now, it's very hot!), you cant really steer clear of infections and viruses. im praying my family will be spared from any illnesses (toucchwood). but it's always better to be prepared than sorry in the end. since my nephew, pong, is in the phils, my son gets to plya with him a lot. pong is 15months old while my son is turning 5. despite their age gap, they get on really well especially with pulling off mischiefs in my parent's house!
one time, my dad ordered some stuff he needs with the building he's constructing. being curious brats, the boys played with some of them (bolts, bearings, woods, etc). they have been reprimanded already but you know kids. the more you say no, the more they're tempted to do it.
my dad has already moved his stuff. he's joking that he'll lose money with what the boys are doing (playing with and damaging goods paid for already by his clients *lol*). i reminded him that another baby boy is coming (care of my sister) and that he should brace himself for even more mischief! *lol* Labels: money money money
since most of the western countries are in recession, i think the number of employees they have have greatly decreased. i heard in uk alone, there are about 1.9M people without a job! lots of businesses have closed and im sure, those that are still running have only retained all their important workers.
i think it will be better for them to have a key man insurance. this way, their business wont suffer any further with the death of their "key" man. they've suffered enough. im sure with this loss, they wont be able to recover anymore. and even more people will be made redundant.

my sister was so annoyed with this shipping company. she ordered a box so she could send some stuff here in the philippines in time for christmas 2007. she ordered it in october and was waiting and waiting for them to collect it. christmas has come and gone, no sign of them. she got fed up and brought it to the US (in june 2008!) where my mom was so she could bring it to the philippines. how ridiculous was that! the box eventually reached the philippines in september 2008. almost a year after it was supposed to be picked up.
it's so hard shipping boxes here in the phils. either that or you'll spend loads just to get them shipped. Labels: money money money
my friend had this crazy idea. what if in a restaurant, customers will be offered diet pills as well. so instead of bingeing on food, once they see the pills, they'll order it instead. there wont be any temptation to get fat. she said, it's prevention. one time, she thought of setting up a business as a "money spender". she'll cater to all the rich people who dont know what to do with their money. her business will help the "clients" spend their money. but the "good thing" about this is, she'll get to keep whatever she buys with the client's dosh. who in their right mind would do that?! this girl is crazy, i tell you! i remember when i was still in grade school. whenever i got elected as secretary of our class, my teacher would ask me to make a poster of the class officer to be displayed in the room. my dad usually did it for me. he's an engineer and he's got all this writing gadgets that he uses to make cool posters, signage and stuff.

in the family, myself and my other brother are the only ones who dont wear eyeglasses yet. it's in the genes. and i wont be surprised if i get to wear one soon!
our youngest brother was also the youngest to be diagnosed. he's been wearing one since 4th year high. he didnt tell anybody that he couldnt see properly. my mom just noticed one day that when he watches the tv, his face was just a few inches away! he was immediately brought to our aunt who's an optometrist.
im hoping though that i dont get to wear one that soon. i used to think that glasses are cute. but really, having perfect vision is still the best! Labels: money money money
last year, my parent's house was broken into. fortunately, the robber was probably a novice and was only able to get unwanted stuff (how pathetic was that!). no one was at home that day but the scary thing was, it happened in broad day light! and there is usually a lot of people outside so getting into someone's house with lots of eyes around, not a good idea, i tell you!
my dad has since installed a home security for the house. he doesnt want to take anymore chances. they've been lucky the first time who knows what could happen the next.
we are thinking about the same thing with our own house. me and my husband are away most of the day, being at work. my son is usually left there with his gran. just thinking about it makes me cringe!

my borther and father has been having arguments lately. my brother lives with my parents and he's been coming home late (well, more of early morning) everyday for the past 2 weeks. he's not out on gimmicks but he's putting up a business with his colleagues. parents dont mind that but he doesnt carry a key of his own. he has to wake up my mom each time so he could get in. he was told to have the keys duplicated (our house was broken into last year and they had to change the door hardware. my brother hasnt found the time to have it duplicated yet. my parents are busy as well. so imagine the "chaos".

there's this girl im so annoyed with. she keeps on complaining that she's getting heavier (fatter!) by the minute. hello! she eats every minute as well. doesnt she know? to eat is to gain weight? at least for most people, that's what happens. i mean, i dont care if people eat a lot. i eat loads! but i dont like it when they complain about gaining weight when they can do something about it. they only have themselves to blame!
so girl, if you dont want to feel heavier, try not eating so much. or at least, take some weight loss pills afterwards. and stop moaning! Labels: money money money

me and my mom went shopping the other day. i took a half day off and we met in ayala. first we got our beauty fix (false eyelashes!) then mom wanted to scour for home furnishings. she wants to redecorate but she's hardly here in the philippines, i dont think it's a good idea. my dad and my brothers dont stay home much. they have work and school and who'll use the home theater seating she wants?

im not sure if i can say we're lucky in the philippines that we're not feeling the credit crunch as much as compared to most western countries. being in malls most of my working hours, i can say that people are still shopping. meaning, they still have money.
whereas in the uk, where my sister lives, the unemployment rate is shooting over the roofs! more than 1m people are out of jobs. well, probably we're used to people having no jobs here in the philippines so it's not news anymore. but then again, that means, our ofw's are affected as well. and i have read somewhere that if they lose their jobs, they will come home and add to our own jobless stats.

when my aunt came to spend christmas with us in 2006 (they attended my sister's wedding as well), it was really christmas for everybody. kids and adults alike were treated to whatever they like. most of the teenaagers bought their own cellphones (not just simple ones but the latest models) but this cousin of mine had simple joys. he only asked for one of the rc helicopters he saw at toy kingdom. dont ask what the adults asked for *lol*.
my aunt was feeling so generous that time. afterall, she hasnt gone home to the philippines for over 10 years and she was just glad to see everybody again. dont think that we took advantage of her. she actually forced us to choose and buy stuff.

i dont drink much water. it's too bland for me (duh!) so i drink lots of juice - orange juice, pineapple juice, mango juice, buko juice and now i have discovered cranberry (is it from the same family as the Blackberry plants?) juice, thanks to my mom who brought some from dubai. i know water is still better. i do try to drink at least 3 glasses a day but i cant take anymore. good thing my son is into water more than juices. our youngest brother's wishes came true when his new car was delivered last week. it's the 2008 honda jazz with all the bling blings. lucky him! (yes, im sour graping because ouor dad promised all 5 of us cars and it's just my youngest brother who got his). anyways, we're tteeasing him to put tire chains on his car to prevent it from being carnapped. one of my dad's car was carnapped (and then found again, minus bling blings) in front of our own house!

lots of people are dying from mesothelioma. well, that's what my sister told me. im not aware of it here. probably, since the phils is a 3rd world country and things like this isnt given much notice.
my sister told me that houses in the 50's or earlier are asbestos-laiden. and that causes mesothelioma. most of them anyway. i dont know how true this is (this is just 2nd hand information. do your own research!) but in the uk, they are offering executive checkups for builders who works/worked in such houses to check for asbestos. im sure, we do have it here. but usually, they just classify it as the usual lung cancer. i have been very busy lately (what's new!) and my mom just arrived from dubai, with my sister in law and cutie nephew, pong and i just had to take some time off work to be with them.
anyways, we've been shopping since they arrived. i often do store visits, go to malls (im a visual merchandiser) and the mall is kinda boring to me already. if anything, i would like to stay away, as far away as possible. but this time, i cant. they want to go there, im going too. i miss them and it's relly for their company that im enduring the mall experience again.
most often than not, i shop online now. my sister introduced me to the wonderful life of online shopping. imagine, you dont have to go to crowded malls, you can choose products at your own leisure. and prices are lower than that in malls because you dont pay for the merchant's lease.

i passed by my parent's house earlier as i was just in sm san lazaro doing one of my mall rounds. my brother's boasting about his new car so i just went to see what the fuss is all about.
anyways, i had my laptop with me so i did some surfing while raiding our pantry. our youngest, after showing off his new car, played some online games on his pc. then our other brother came and turned on his laptop. our father came home and saw what we were up to. he joked that he'll buy computer desks and will charge us for electricity and internet use. just like in a cafe. yeah, like he would *lol* Labels: money money money

my dad bought some industrial clamps which they will use in one of his construction projects. my son, adam, saw it when we visited their house and played with it. now he wants to have one. he discovered that he can join and hold pieces together. that he can cut 2 things at the same time with them. little joys for the little kid. i think he's being influenced by my dad (not intentionally) to become an engineer. everytime we visit my parent's house, adam will surely learn one thing or two about engineering and construction.
i dont mind really. as long as he's learning. and im open for options. he can be an engineer. or a doctor. or get into advertising like us, his parents. as long as he takes his studies seriously, we'll support him all the way. Labels: money money money
i heard from someone that this couple, who's deeply buried in debt already, got themselves a brand new 48" LCD TV on installment. they are to pay 2k php per week (i have already converted it into the local currency as not to give away who this couple is) for 36months. how pathetic is that! they got this because they didnt have to go through credit checks which im sure they'll fail because of their humongous debt. do they need the tv? no, not really. they just like competing with other people even if they dont have the means. really, pathetic! my hubby's car insurance is about to expire. so he's now looking at various auto insurance quotes again. it's very difficult as there's a lot to consider. comprehensiveness, fees itself, add-ons, etc. lots to think about. i told him to just renew his old one but he said it would be very expensive. finding a new one will be cheaper.

i dont cook. even my siblings dont. our parents cooked for us. that's why we never learned. but when you have your own family, it's essential. fortunately for me, we've got househelp. even if we dont, i dont think i have the time to cook for my family. i get home late. my husband comes home late (blame the traffic!). our son will starve if not for our very able househelps.
but i went to a friend's party and boy, she prepared all the food herself. i couldnt believe it! like me, she used to be clueless in the kitchen. but she took up a short cooking course and it got her hooked. i loved her sweet potato pie the most. im going to ask for her recipe and maybe try it one of these days.
