my boss are talking about taking a side trip to macau, afterall, it's just a few hours from hongkong. i think they want to try the floating casino there, in between sourcing out suppliers. i don't think im going to go with them. i don't want to extend anymore. i want to go home! besides, there are lots of online casinos about that they can do their "gambling" in the comfort of their own homes! and be in a smoke-free env't (i don't think they mind though).
hubby has been 'tuning in' on www.topusaonlinecasinos.com for online casino news. he's not playing yet but his cousin, mark, in florida has suggested this site so hubby will be able to get the feel of it. the site is user friendly, you get the main bits on the main screen. no need to click and surf. you get the juicy details with one go. the site is mainly for US players and hubby was hoping they would also cater to other people from other parts of the world.
he said, he doesn't mind that much that he can't play yet. he's still learning the tricks of the trade. i just hope that when he does, he'll be sane enough to spend just what he can afford! Labels: money money money
i miss my son. i won't be home till this weekend. i missed his trick or treat-ing today in our village. he's going as zorro! he was pretty excited about this, his cape, his mask, his sword... last year he went as green lantern. he wanted to be a super hero again but i said, he should be somebody else, still a hero but im just fed up of his justice league facination *lol* (bad mom!). i just want him to broaden his interests, that's all! anyways, i hope his dad took pictures of him. my college classmate, Amor, recently inquired with my hubby's uncle regarding Home Equity Loans. uncle is the director of one of the banks in the metropolis. Amor's mom has been hospitalized and they need a big amount of money to cover all hospitalisation expenses. all they could think of is getting their house sort of remortgaged again so they can pay for her mom's operation and other expenses.
prior to this appt (uncle and amor), amor and her family has already weighed their options. they've done their research, in sites like magicloans.co.uk, which was very helpful in terms of knowing how much interest rates are, how much they might be expected to pay over a period of time. this made them confident in setting up their home as a collateral. they know that they can pay off their debts if all the family members will chip in.
i hope her mom gets better soon.

i was so pissed off yesterday. i bought a phone card so i could call my husband in the philippines (im still here in china). i inserted the card in the slot. at first it rang then the ringing stopped and to my surprise, it deducted a lot. so much that i couldn't even make the call anymore! ridiculous! Labels: rants
i really hate some of the philippine's local celebrities. even if it's obvious that they've undergone cosmetic surgery, they're still adamant that they haven't! why be ashamed?! at least now they look pleasing to the eye!
if time comes, i won't be embarassed to go under the knife. i can't stop my body and face from getting old but we have brilliant doctors who are always finding ways to defy ageing. we've got the technology, we should take advantage of it.
im not saying we should all do it or that anybody can do it. it's still a risky procedure. i've watched several clips of people undergoing liposuction, face lips, nose reconstruction, the likes and they don't look easy. it has to be done properly, just like what Liposuction UK does. only experienced doctors should do it and patients should be aware of what they'll go through. the end product might be enticing, but getting there will take a few bumpy roads.

we are currently dim sum binging *lol*. what would you expect? we're in china and what else would we eat? as they say, do as the chinese do *lol*. i am currently hooked on this restaurant's (name which i can't pronounce nor even read!!) shrimp dumplings. when i get home, i'll try to whip up something similar. i know i won't be able to replicate the taste so i've resigned to the fact that i can only make something that looks like it *lol*.
got the recipe already:
Ingredients : 1 cup/100g Plain flour 2 Eggs 1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
Filling: 700g Shrimp, shelled and deveined 100g Cooked pork fat 100g Bamboo shoots, shredded 1 tablespoon Lard 1 teaspoon Sesame oil 1/2 teaspoon Pepper 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar 2 teaspoons salt
Method : Put all ingredients for the filling in a mixing bowl and stir until the mixture becomes sticky. Set aside. Take one wrapper and place 1 teaspoon filling in the center. Fold the wrapper up, working with both hands to seal the dumpling. Push the upper edge gently towards the left and make ruffles along the top of the dumplings. Steam the dumplings over a very high heat for 8-10 minutes and serve.

this china-hongkong experience im having right now is really making me think hard on how soon i want to open up my own design business. it seems that everything's just easy, that i can actually do it. of course, im forgetting one thing. it's not just the talent or skills that's important in starting a business. capital is needed to keep things jumpstarted. i don't have that much savings as we're just a young family. we would probably need another 10 years to really be able to save that much. but we can't wait that long. what if the moment passes us by?
i wonder if i can take out a Business Loan.i've read that at ezunsecured.com, no collateral is needed and in about 1-3 weeks time, you'll get your funds. they offer fast approvals which only takes 1-3 days. too good to be true, you say? but no, they do have the fastest service and can give you the amount you need for whatever you want to spend it on.
if that isn't a sign that i should start my business NOW, i don't know what is! Labels: money money money
don't judge me please! *lol*. me and my sister aren't as 'wealthy' as my mom. some of our body parts stopped growing when we were 15! im just trying to pretend that there's something here *lol*. hubby was teasing me when it took me a while to get a proper picture of myself. talk about vanity!

my sister was telling me that when they went to the US, they were very surprised to see lots of suv's. they're not used to seeing big cars anymore because she said in the UK, cars are normally small, like hatchback small. she said it's because insurance and tax tend to be expensive the bigger the car gets. i would understand that if people owns luxury cars. but what if you need a bigger car for business? won't that put a big dent in the finances in the company? im not really that knowledgeable in businesses, just wondering. my sister said there are sites that offer really affordable Commercial Van Insurance. and normally, such expenses are tax deductable. that's a reassuring thought!

im quite excited that my mom is coming home real soon. i can't wait for all the thingies she and my sister bought for us! it's a little sad though. our family won't be complete yet again this christmas. my sister and her hubby in england. my eldest brother and his wife, in dubai. my 2nd brother in saudi but at least he's spending the holidays with my sister in england. still, our family's all over the place.
i just hope they buy lots of phone card so they can call us then. i must remember to tell them to buy them on phonecardsavenue.com as they will get 3% rebate on the phone cards that they will buy. more money they save, the more phone cards they'll be able to buy, the longer we get to talk.
now speaking of phoning home, i must call my boys after this. i won't be seeing them till the week ends. Labels: money money money

since im still on a roll with planning my future business *lol*, next thing i need to consider is how to let my website be known. i know i can get my online shop up and running in no time, thanks to my bro-in-law, but marketing it is another story. i want my website to have a high page ranking, so that when clients search for products, mine will come up first. and i know just the site that will help me.
DiscountClick is an Internet Marketing Consultant that will help increase the traffic of my site. i have no idea about SEO Marketing and neither does my sister, who's been helping me with my blog, so i would rather leave it to the experts to help me get my site popular.
i think im not gonna wait for 5 years to get this project started. im really inspired, the future looks good! Labels: money money money

i would like to have my own business someday. at the moment i'm just trying to get as much experience as i can from my present job. hopefully in the near future, probably in 5 year's time, i could open my own shop, design my own line of clothes. im quite thankful that my boss is letting me join them to source out suppliers in china and hongkong.
as i feel i won't have the budget yet to open up a store, i'll do it online probably the first few months, until i get a client base. fortunately, i have a brother-in-law who can help me build up my online store. all i have to do is buy a Shopping cart software. i think ashop.com offers a very affordable ecommerce software, which will help business newbies like me. more and more people are starting their business online, even before they open real shops. at least, rent (if not buying a place) will be one less of a problem.
i hope in time, i'll have lots of clients, the shopping cart will be filled to the rim! it's not bad to dream, right? anyways, i'll strive hard so that this dream will become a reality. Labels: money money money

what's going on in the philippines?! we've only been gone for 4 days and coming back, erap's already been granted a pardon! no wonder lots of people are migrating abroad.
my colleague is one of them. she's leaving for singapore where the grass is greener. she's hoping that her family will follow soon. but the problem would be the accomodation. she said it's expensive to live there.
my sister lives in england and they have their own house. it is expensive to live there as well but she told me, it's better to add a few hundred pounds to the rent and have the money go to the mortgage. at least, they are already paying for their own home and not helping others pay their own mortgages! i guess it's always expensive to live anywhere. as long as you know how to handle the money, everything will go smoothly.
my sister will be applying for a remortgage next year as theirs is about to expire. they've been pretty good in terms of paying. who would want to have their payments go to waste by letting the bank take back their own home! but life is hard. not everybody can keep up with their payments. especially since banks have been so lenient with their acception criteria. good thing there are poor credit remortgage and mortgage protection available. people need not worry where they'll get their payments from or if they'll have money to actually pay for them if ever they come to a blank wall.
anyways, im digressing. i wish someday we'll be able to migrate as well. im not trying to bring the philippines down. but i don't see any hope for the country at the moment.

have you seen KC Concepcion's tv documentary of her stay in paris? i have. and im now as keen as ever to go there. i envy my sister because she's just an hourr away from paris. and she told me that there's a lot of budget airlines about which makes it even easier to go to france. if i go visit her in england someday, i'll make sure paris is in our itinerary! that's why as early as now, i've been searching for hotels in france. am i smart or what!? at least she doesn't have the additional burden of planning our trip. i'll happily do it for her!
obviously, being in fashion, the paris fashion week will be part of it. i've always wanted to experience this and seeing all those fab designers, latest trend, latest scoop - that would be pure ecstasy! aside from that, i would want to vist the eiffel tower and the louvre museum. of course, i want to do some cultural immersion as well. and finally, hoping that my son would come with me, our i.t would include disneyland paris. based on that, we have to find cheap hotels in paris as that's where we'll be touring the most.
anyways, i don't care where we stay. im not that picky. i don't even mind if we stay in any nice hotels. france is still france.Labels: money money money
currently in puerto princesa with my family, having our much needed break. wow, sarap! im just trying to earn some moolah while my boys are lounging in the hotel lobby. we've arrived yesterday and we've done the city tour already. earlier today, we went on the tour of the underground river. tomorrow we'll go honda bay hopping and on friday, we're going home na. huhu!
anyways, i'll post some pics and my detailed stories when we go back home.

i don't have any credit cards at the moment and i don't have any intentions of applying for one. i think i have been put off by those people i know who are so dependent on them. they're using their cards like they don't need to pay them back! tsk tsk..
just take this cousin of my friend. she has 3 credit cards and she has maxed out all of them. she needed to apply for a personal loan, because she can't pay for all her credits! unfortunately, since she's got bad credit, her application was declined. now she's in deep trouble. she's been sent demand letters already and god knows where she'll get the money to pay for everything.
i think she better confess to her parents about her problems. otherwise, she'll end up in jail!

my mom's stay in the uk is nearing its end. she's been there since august! she's leaving on the 8th but will be stopping over dubai to visit my brother and sister in law who are based there.
as early as august, just a few weeks into her holiday in england, she's already been looking for flights to Dubai. we know, based from my sister's experience that it's difficult to find Cheap Flights especially coming close to christmas. what with lots of overseas workers wishing to get home and spend their christmas breaks with loved ones.
my sister recommended taking Middle East flights because travel from uk won't be as tiring. travelling is halved between the destinations. so from london, it's about 7 hours to dubai and another 7 hours from dubai to manila. it's not that boring!
i wish i could visit my brother in dubai someday. i heard lots of europeans have their Holidays in Dubai because it's being built up as a world class tourist destination. imagine, the only 7 star hotel in the world can be found in dubai!
booking a flight would be easy with DialAFlight. at least accomodations won't be a problem anymore! =)

glorietta was hit again by terrorists. a bomb exploded in glorietta 2. lucky me i wasn't there to do store visits. im not really surprised that there has been a breach to the security of the mall. those guards checking bags? i think they're useless and a waste of space. they're there to stop you going in, pretending to look in your bag/s. heck, most of them don't even look in the bags! they just poke their sticks and would continue chatting with other guards. why are they even there?! they're not doing their jobs properly. ok, i don't want to generalize them but most are really just door accessories.
i hope they would learn from this. of course it's not entirely their fault. most of it was because of the devil lurking around us. when will they stop killing? that's not how they should argue their cause. pathetic! hope they rot in hell! Labels: news

me and my little family is fortunate to have a free roof over our heads. it was provided for by my in-laws and we don't pay a single penny for it. not many people are as lucky as us. i know that we won't be able to afford it, paying for something as expensive as a house from our meek salary.
anyways, because of this, we were spared the hassle of going through the house hunting and property buying. my sister told me that it's not just finding the right house. it's finding the right mortgage as well. there are lots of different mortgages about and one should be careful in reading the small prints. they might look enticing but that doesn't mean they are cheap mortgages!
she also told me that once you're on the property ladder already, it's not as scary as it seems. if looking for a 2nd property isn't proof enough, i don't know what is! she said they're now looking at buy to let mortgages as they plan to have this 2nd property as income generating. good for them!
right now im quite happy that we don't have to deal with all these things. but it's always better to know about them for future reference, aint it? Labels: money money money
last Wednesday while having our coffee break, me and my colleague was asked to interview an applicant who wants to be a fashion designer. the first time i saw her i was starstruck. long highlighted kinky hair, big girl, much taller than me (im 5'6 just for the record), and she was wearing super mega saudi gold accessories. with her dark complexioned skin she was able to carry herself quite fashionably. her portfolio was very impressive, so we asked her if this will be her first job if ever and she said yes. from what school, we asked, well la salle international. no wonder she's very fluent in english. all students there are all "conyotics". we asked what computer programs or softwares she knows, unfortunately not much. she knows a bit of corel draw, but it will be an advantage to us if she knows more than one. i, myself, knows several (bragging aside, ahem ahem): adobe photoshop, macromedia flash, and corel draw. anyways, super unfortunate for her, we dont have an opening for a designer (hey! are you trying to replace me, the heck!), hehehe. Labels: job
i've never thought of applying for any credit cards. i don't own one and im not sure im ready to have that faux financial freedom. my sister used to tell me never to get one because of the tendency to be dependent on it. it doesn't mean you have the plastic, you can afford to buy many things. you'd still pay for it in the end. so if you don't have any means to pay for it now, you never would. i think she's talking about her own experience. she used to own 3 cards and was able to max them all out! imagine that?!
that was when she was still here in the philippines. her tune changed when she went to england. now she's telling me of all the advantages of having a credit card. hers are cash back credit ones where she gets some money back off the purchases she makes with the card. since she pays for them on time, in full, she doesn't get to pay any interest. she earns instead! another type she told me are the 0% purchase credit cards which charges no interest at all on any purchases for a specific period of time. there are also those that offer balance transfers which people take so they don't have to pay more interest, if not none at all! hmmn, im very interested in applying for a cash back card. that sounds fair enough.
im learning more and more from her. although she says that one should take caution still. if you don't control your spending habits, these cards would be your worst nightmare. i don't want that. do you?

i'm currently employed as a visual merchandiser for a garments company, meaning my skills in designing is super exploited for i have to create designs for show windows for 3 different brands. am i good or not?! kidding aside, it's not that easy. i love designing and all that jazz but hey! im just human. that job is super toxic... taking most of my time even during breaks. im also currently handling merchandise designs and that's what's eating most of my time. But thank god i have an associate who's willing to help me with the other brands. And by the end of the month, me and my bosses will go to shanghai, hongkong, and guangzho for sourcing (seems productive but tiring). good thing a week before that, me and my family will be having a vacation in palawan. hay! Life parang buhay! Labels: job
life here in the philippines is as hard as ever. more and more college graduates fail to secure jobs. if they do, they end up with a low paying job, with salary not even enough to support oneself, let alone an entire family.
one of my classmates in college has asked me if there's an opening in our company. she needs a job badly as her father was laid off from work. her mom is just a plain housewife. she's got just one sibling, 2 years younger than her. the problem is, their house is still on mortgage. they don't want to lose their home as they've only got 5 years left before they can claim it as their own.
her dad has tried applying for various personal loans but because he's out of job, and the prospect of finding another one (at the moment) is bleak, so he's been denied. her mom suggested asking for loans from relatives but even that won't be enough to cover their expenses for the next 6 months.
someone suggested secured loans but that means they have to put up their house as equity. they think it's the only option they have.
unfortunately, there's no opening in our company at the moment. i sure do hope she finds one soon. it's bad enough that her dad lost his job. it would be worse if they lose their home.

when i was younger, i used to listen to joe d'mango over the radio. he's like a love doctor helping with relationships, matters of the heart and the like. im wondering, is he still around? some of the quotes that i've heard are:
How wonderful if we learn how: to love without condition; to speak without bad intention; to give without expecting anything in return; and to care without hesitation. Never say that someone completes you. We have to feel whole even we are by ourselves, for needing someone is not love but dependency... wanting a person to become a part of our life is the best reason for having them and you can only want when you know you have enough. so rather search for that someone who will complete you... wait for the person who will complement your completeness. Its harder to live alone... its harder to choose someone to love.. but the hardest part of loving is to admit that you've fallen for someone without the chance to be yours. Love when established, shall never cease to exist, when there is no intent to abandon.
but still, those quotes are only guides. experience is still the best teacher. and the important thing is learning from mistakes. i believe that there's no one else to blame (for any hardships that we may encounter) but ourselves. we always have a choice. it may not be the right choice but we still have a choice. my husband is looking at buying a laptop of his own. we used to have a desktop but eversince virus took power, we've never been able to use it again. then we purchased a laptop but i ended up hogging it since i use it for designing (which reminds me to charge our company for its use!) as well.
my sister has been raving about Dell computers. let's just say they're avid fans. so it was really fortunate that her husband, my bro-in-law, also found these Dell coupons that we can use to save loads! he said he found these codes and coupons from edealfinder.com.

as i have said a few blog entries ago, my hubby's uncle wants to treat the whole clan to a holiday abroad. the young ones would rather go to the states as they think it's more fun and there are lots of choices. but the older ones, want to go to europe. we are all trying to come up with the best I.T, because the best one (feasible one) will win an additional trip to either singapore or hong kong. nice huh?
anyways, as im doing this project (and have all the intentions of winning), i think paris, rome and madrid should be in our I.T. i frequently visit hotelclub.net for hotel updates on the best hotels with the best prices. i have so far learned a lot about Madrid and now have an idea of how much hotels in Madrid cost.
this is making the task easy. and im really feeling good about this! Labels: money money money
sorry for my week-long absence. i have been swamped with work (what's new?!) that i only have time to kiss my boys goodnight when i get home everyday. pathetic, right? we've been busy with mall visits and i have been busy with designing as well, since christmas is fast approaching. what keeps me sane is the thought that i'll have that much needed break soon. we're off to palawan! i just hope the weather holds up. pls. pls. pray for a good weather! i have been tasked to do our christmas shopping. nope, not for my little family but for my parents as well. my mom's still out of the country and with just me, my dad and my younger brother left in the philippines, im the only one 'capable' of doing such task. well, you couldn't trust men buying useful stuff!
the problem is, there's been too much going on at work that i have barely enough time for my boys. fortunately, i have discovered the wonders of online shopping so this is one less thing to do. and another wonderful discovery i had was the promo codes of couponchief.com.
with the target deals i found, i'll have all the socks full by november! and im not too worried about shipping costs as target offers shipping discounts as well!
smart, huh?! but wait.. i just remember my brother asking for some gap jackets. good thing couponchief.com also has gap coupons i can use. really, lots of different shops, lots of discounts!

tagged by my ate. i really had difficulty doing this tag because i don't think im annoying! but here goes...
1. i don't like to be disturbed when im plucking (yes, plucking!) the balahibo on my fingers and on my knees =D.
2. i usually put my phone on vibro so i almost always miss calls.
3. i seldom check my email and that annoys my family abroad.
4. i teach my son how to speak chinese (which my co-workers taught me) and tell him to talk to my sister in chinese. this is actually funny but if you're calling overseas and you've been trying to talk seriously to my son for ages, it could be annoying! hehehe
5. i take ages in the bathroom!
i can't think of anything else. maybe im not that annoying? hehe Labels: meme
my hubby has invaded the garage at home. just as well, as im beginning to think of it as just a waste of space. he's still not parking his car there *hihi*, he just converted it to his and our son's extended play room! well, fine by me as long as they keep their mess there and i get to keep my own space! last night before going home, we were window shopping for possible garage lighting. my son said he wants spiderman and green lantern lights and insist on plastering the walls with justice league wall paper. where the hell are we going to find those!?
